This time, our word of the week comes from the legal field: “Ehegatteninnengesellschaft” (to be read like this: Ehegatten-Innengesellschaft). Like our favourite word of last week, which came from the pharmaceutical field, most people probably misread this word, when they see it for the first time. When it comes to the translation of legal documents, such as agreements, powers of attorney, court decisions, GTC, privacy policies and notarial contracts, small and sneaky obstacles appear regularly and require the translator to pay particular attention to the text.
